FAQ

Q. How do I get my quilt to you?
A. Give me a call 814-758-2667. I have arrangements with local quilt shops and we can find the one closes to you.

Q. What about batting?
A. Batting choice can be difficult. Batting can also be expensive. The type of batting you choose depends on the type of quilt project you have. If it is going to be a keepsake and you have put a lot of time and money into the top be sure to use good fabric for the back and a decent quality batting. I currently have two types of batting in stock . Hobbs Heirloom Blend and Warm and Natural. Each for $8.00 a yard. Not all batting is going to work well for longarm quilting. If you prefer to send your own batting please call first and see if it is an acceptable brand. Bamboo batting, black batting and other natural fiber battings are also available upon request.

Q. How long does it take to get my quilt back?
A. That depends on the size of your quilt and what type of a finish you would like done. A pantograph or edge to edge pattern can usually be done in about 2 weeks depending on my backlog. If you have a special date when your project needs to be done let me know. I am sure we can work something out.

Q. What is a pantograph?
A. A pantograph is a repeat pattern. Click on the Pattern tab on the Home page and you will find some common pantograph patterns. If you have a specific pattern not shown let me know, I may have it as well, my collection is always growing.

Q. What kind of thread do you use? Do I have a choice of thread colors?
A. It's your choice. Cotton has been the traditional thread choice for quilt tops, however some of the new poly wrapped cotton threads are very nice. I carry both and have over 200 colors to choose from. I always use the same color top and bobbin thread. As a rule the thread color should match the back of your quilt. This is helpful to know before choosing your backing fabric. Decorative threads are also available for custom quilting projects.

Q. What type of backing should I use?
A. You can use cotton or flannel. No polyester. When picking out a backing fabric remember that the thread always matches the backing fabric. For example, If you use an unbleached muslin on the back then the thread will typically be a natural beige color.
